Welcome

welcome to paintsandpixels

My name is Tony Byrne and i live in North Devon with my Wife.

I took up art as a way of helping manage the symptoms of my PTSD. At school i did not take much attention in art lessons as i was not permitted to do what i wanted to paint, that being aviation.

My paintings are more about the subject rather than its role. I am interested in all aspects of aviation art from early day up to date, fixed wing as well as helicopters, military and civil types.

I have had no recent art classes so I learn as I go. My work is predominantly acrylic on canvas, but I will paint on board also.

Since I started painting I have had my works exhibited at the Mall Gallery London, in two exhibitions entitled "Art to Recovery" and works exhibited and sold at the Elliott Gallery in North Devon.

I have undertaken commissions for 19 Sqn at RAF Valley of the new T2 Hawk, and provided limited edition prints to Babcock Defence. Two commissions for British Airways pilots of Concord and a Boeing 747, 22 Sqn RAF. I was also privileged to be provided with Images from the Red Arrows to complete a painting of one of the Hawks, limited edition prints were signed by the team and those were given to various service charities to help raise funds.

I do produce my own prints, standard prints as well as limited editions. My limited editions are a maximum of 20 prints and all come with authentication letters.

I have also recently started glass etching using aluminium oxide under pressure and have undertaken a number of commissions for those.
I will look at any kind of design be it on a mirror, drinks glass or any aluminium or other metal items.
